LIFE IN THE BUSHES OF A SMALL PECKHAM PARK

In 2011 I started a photographic insect study of ‘an insignificant park in London’. Interested in what I would find in a small urban park, I chose Warwick Gardens in Peckham as it’s my local park. The mission was to photograph everything that moved. Six years on I have photographed over 550 different species.

This book is a portrait of the insects who live in Warwick Gardens, a story of life in the bushes; the comings and goings, the politics, the celebrations of birth, death and survival. They are our neighbours with all the same problems we have trying to get along with each other. Like us, they have to contend with a constantly changing habitat, new species moving into the area and the ever decreasing space.
 

Written with a wry look at the gentrification of Peckham through the compound eyes of our tiny neighbours.
